I am now able to connect to my Ouya via ADB through my Wi-Fi network - a great help since my TV is nowhere near my dev PC... but it took some work. In retrospect, it didn't take long and wasn't that hard, but it involved some scary Unix command line…

Your #4 seems to me like it rewards developers for getting on and giving all other developers poor ratings. Not only does the competition get lower rating, but you also cause your game to move to the front of the list. Ideal…
I'll be perfectly honest... this sounds like a really bad idea to me. Any game where typing is the main game mechanic has no business on the Ouya. Sure gamers could connect a bluetooth keyboard or whatever, but most won't.
My personal advice? Keep …
Yes, you can update your game after release. In this way it's much like the Google Play store I believe. There's no "patch" system (in the original sense of the word) where a patch modifies some baseline game binaries. Instead, you just upload new A…
I have to admit that I'm a Unity fanboy for any and all kinds of game development. It's a professional-level tool and free to boot.
It's not great for 2D out of the box, but you can get the free Orthello add-on for Unity or pay for the 2D Toolkit a…
Ouya runs the Android OS, so in many ways it's just like any other Android phone or other device... just with different inputs (controllers) and outputs (TV).
Unfortunately if RPG Maker can't produce an Android package then it can't run on Ouya.
There was a website out there that had figured out how to do it. It had a list of every Ouya game and the number of likes, categories, screenshots, etc. It updated every 15 minutes or so, presumably scraping the Ouya site each time.
I can't seem to…
Hmm... I also just found a nice high quality photo taken at the perfect angle on page 23 of the official Ouya Brand Guide:

Would take a little work to make it suitable for a true control di…
So, I found a guy on reddit who has created a nice controller graphic (in PSD and PNG format) for use as a button diagram and given it out for free to the public.

We're working on relabeling this so it's clear that the Y button option is to put console into sleep mode and not power off. Also have issue now where change in HDMI state (unplug / replug, or change input from HDMI to something …

Aaaaah. OK. Basically, from the main game page (same area you view Thumbs Up, screenshots, More Info, Download/Play/Update, etc), you might have a Product List button. Clicking that pulls up a list of all products the game cur…
So, what is actually different on the ODK side of this update? Most of those changes seemed like firmware updates rather than ODK updates.
I ask because I noticed that the Unity Ouya plugin hasn't been updated since this latest ODK was released and…

I'm sorry, I just don't see the price change thing as a valid argument against price listing at all. In my opinion, the benefits of price listing are guaranteed and far outweigh the rare problem o…

Unless, of course, some dev out there consciously decides to constantly change their product pricing. But in that case I think that dev should expect upset customers and probably deserves them.

Actually, that's where the problem lies. Games and In-App-Purchase products are not linked in any way, so the OUYA team doesn't have access to pricing info for games. They have access to pricing info for Products, and those …
@Piers, Hmm... I hadn't thought about displaying prices dissuading people from downloading. That's a fair point, but I think that can be mitigated by displaying a products window on the More Info page that might look something like this
This game is…

People just expect to see a price for something up front. Think how it would be if you went to a grocery store and nothing had a price tag and you had to take items up to the cashier to see how much t…
How do I contact the Ouya Team to request making offline validation as easy as online? They've listened about the joysticks and recovery options.
I'm not sure that the Ouya Team should have anything to do with offline validation because that really…
Agreed. That's another thing... I feel like the rotation controls are backward. In most games, right means clockwise.
The direction of the rock matters, but not as much as I originally thought. Now, I just get the rock pointed in the general "Up" d…

Check the download zip file located here: https://github.com/ouya/docs/blob/master/controllers.md
This should be on developer portal soon
Piers, thanks, I had been looking for "official" controller images as well. And yes…

Come on, it's the basics of programming. You cache the value with a hash - and use device ID as a salt (there are several methods of obtaining device ID, will have to check which works on OUYA best). I personally prefer to do i…

Don't know if you guys noticed, but it looks like the Ouya sold out in one day at Gamestop, Amazon, and Best Buy. Hopefully that translates into a sales/downloads boost, but who knows what kind of numbers that really means...
I'm really curious as well.
If it means anything, I just now noticed that the Ouya is not available for purchase online through BestBuy.com or amazon.com. All of my local Best Buys also list it as out of stock. Assuming that launch shipments actua…
