Are you experiencing the same crashes during onscreen keyboard use that GodlyPerfection and myself are? Try adding a network source.
XBMC already works with the Ouya controller (Frodo RC3). Crashes irregularly when using on screen keyboard but have tried with success playing things from a usb drive. GodlyPerfection has managed to play things over upnp. See also this thread.
Now using RC3, only crashes seem to be when using the on screen keyboard. So I seem to be having the same level of success as you.
