Well I hope the final versions are better then the prototypes cause we already seem to have broken the two prototype controllers. The joysticks are not staying on the centers so they drag off a little when you let up instead of staying centered.
Sounds like you havn't accounted for dead zone. I havn't looked at the OUYA controller code yet, but if they aren't doing it you most certainly will have to. The Xbox 360 controller SDK accounts for it, but even with them I've had to add my own on top as aftermarket 360 controllers were wandering out of the MS deadzone ranges.
Sony has a complete inability to innovate so I'm not exactly surprised, tho the OUYA is really too recent for this to be ripoff of the OUYA controller.
Saw the similarity as well, maybe it will be a good sign that major developers can bring their software cross-platform to the OUYA. (Or better yet someone can build a firmware package for the OUYA controller to put a dent in the PS4 hardware market)
Did anyone else notice that Sony didn't actually present the system hardware? Or is the controller the console with a wireless HDMI bridge?
Just an FYI the new Nintendo (Wii-U) controller also has a touchscreen in the top-middle section of the controller. Theirs includes a screen that breaks.
Of course they want to keep up the tension and anticipation for closer to the actual launch, or maybe E3. If they show the whole thing up front there would be much less anticipation.
Yep, that's the first thing I thought. It's GREAT for Ouya to have a controller with apparently the same setup as one of the big guys. That takes a lot of the pressure off of doing a new endeavor like this!
Also when people were mooting ideas for how the PS4 controller could or should change, I did raise the idea of a touch pad similar to Ouya. Still, I think it has more implications for navigation within the OS than games at this stage...
