I can vaguely remember reading or hearing somewhere it doesn't support it, don't know what the source was

Unless it's Google-Account agnostic, I'd guess not. But I'm no experienced Android developer, so...

You didn't remember the plot of the Doctor Who movie because there was none; Just a bunch of plot holes strung together.
