I'm Joe Kelly (which I write as "joekelly", because it's more like one name for me). I'm dual-devving with a AAA and indie studio as a Composer/Sound Designer, but I've been moving more toward code for the past few years. Currently, the indie studio I'm with is working on an Ouya port for our game Dark Scavenger (http://www.darkscavenger.com/), as well as a new project in Unity, which is being prototyped.
I have some experience in Android development (with simple things like a soundboard), and have been working with Unity for a while now (but in C#, because I'm not a big Java fan), so hopefully I can be of some assistance around here. :)
I think Ouya and Unity are the two best things to happen to indie development, and I can't wait for all of the great things to come out of this match made in heaven.
Hi everyone. I'm a small indie dev. My company is so small I don't even have a company name yet. I publish everything under my name for now. I've create a few games for iOS and Android. My latest game which is still under development will be available for Ouya. It's a 2d platformer! I just made a short video of it running on the Ouya.
I'm Nicoll Hunt, and I'm working on a game called FIST OF AWESOME. It was recently successfully Kickstarted and there's loads of videos, screenshots and info on the Kickstarter campaign page.
I won a dev console in the #MyOuyaGame competition and finally got it plugged in after the holiday break yesterday. I'm hoping to have something running on the hardware in the upcoming week :)
Really looking forward to seeing what everybody comes up with!
Hi everyone! I'm just beginning to learn game development using unity, and plan to make simple Atari 2600 style games.
Currently im working on a game called survival. you play as a grey square and eat squares smaller than you while trying to avoid being eaten by squares bigger than you. as you eat you grow, and your score increases. when you grow to your max size, you advance to the next level as a small square again and the difficulty increases. how long will you survive?
I'm Lee Comstock, born and raised in Stockholm Sweden, 26 years old, a Vegan (mostly), been playing Nintendo games my whole life, which is what I mostly play still. I'm currently in my third and final year at Stockholm University, where me and a couple of other students will soon start working on a Unity game as our final project, that we'll want to put on the OUYA, pretty great timing for that actually.
On my own I'm making a Unity Android game called Rolo that's primarily designed as a smartphone game but I'm aiming to get it on the OUYA as well since that shouldn't be a big hurdle. Here's a screenshot and a video:
And it seems like I'll be able to get my XNA C# game Rubber Skull Ball on the OUYA as well, either way you can download and play it for free right now if you want!
It's best played with a 360 controller. It's a pity the OUYA doesn't have rumble as this game uses it well.
But ultimately I prefer Flash and AS3 over other development setups, so if we get full AIR integration then you've totally got me. Although the biggest project I'm working on is a metroidvania style 2d platformer in Flash coded in AS2, so it has a snowball's chance in hell of getting on the OUYA. But my future games will be coded in AS3.
I've mainly concentrated on competitions and jams like Ludum Dare 48, Speedhack, Global Game Jam, etc.
4 Player Multiplayer retroactive experiences are what I hope to bring to the OUYA.
I am self-taught, my niche is retro-style games with new never-before-seen game-play concepts. I'm a devs' dev, an indies' indy. I don't make games for mainstreamers and justin beibers, I make games for people who appreciate independently developed games.
I can be very vocal about my opinions, so please don't take me too seriously because I may just one day hit the nail on the head... your head!
I am Mark Murphy, author of The Busy Coder's Guide to Android Development. I will be working on adding a chapter to my book on OUYA-specific development tips and otherwise helping Android developers learn about and experiment with the OUYA. I'll also be trying to help keep tabs on OUYA questions over on StackOverflow, my primary support haunt.
My name is Roy Eltham. I got my OUYA dev kit yesterday. I've been in the games industry as a programmer for 20 years. Primarily doing graphics engine work for Windows online games.
I'll be working with a couple friends building a game for OUYA. My intention is to use SDL as the foundation layer so that our game will be cross platform across Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux. The main thing we'll need is JNI files for the OUYA sdk. Based on what I have read here, it looks like one or two folks are working on that. I was hoping it would be part of the ODK. It is planned?
https://plus.google.com/photos/105956130649067247289/albums/5830157490707833969 Just got my Ouya setup! I'm Alex Okita, a couple of years ago I wrote a book on Unreal, Currently working on a Unity + C# book, I'm thinking about adding a section for the Ouya, depends on whether or not the ouya stuff is easy to use with the free version of Unity.
Aside from all that, I've been hopping between artist and engineer for the last 20 years or so. Atari, Midway, Bungie, Wideload, Namco, Disney, Microsoft, Blackpoint and some others. Been busy, shipped a bunch of stuff, starting to work on more stuff at home.
Hello, my name is Oliver Wehrli, i am a software developer at ninj gmbh zurich and 53 years old. I have been working on web based and mobile applications and games in the past and am currently developing a unity game for ouya with a bunch of talented swiss 3d designers and game developers.
My name is György Straub. I'm very excited to be a part of the Ouya devs community and I'm glad to see fellow C++ programmers in the ranks.
I've started learning games development 6+ years ago, initially with SDL and OpenGL. As part of my learning process I have been developing a games library, XRhodes and a few smaller-scale games, mostly for competitions.
In 2011, I've got a job at a london based games studio, and in 2012 I've transitioned from SDL to Marmalade SDK. 2013 will be my transition to self-employment. In my spare time I have continued working on XRhodes and various prototypes. I am currently working on a plug-in that enables the easy use of [the core] ODK features with Marmalade - and a game to use it with.
My name is Vanduir Volpato Maia. I have been programming for over 10 years now, experimenting back and forth with a number of things in the sense of game development such an XNA, RPGMaker, Quake 1 modding, Java, HTML5, C++, Android and now I'm getting things ready for a full commercial game.
I'm going the hardcore way (coding my own engine hell yeah!) and hoping to get my game TTerminalys - a spaceship shooter with a puzzle twist - at least on demo format by the time OUYA launches
I'm Pablo, an experienced gamer and webapp developer. I'm always on the edge looking for the next multimedia tech. I'm eager to develop a game with Unity for Android on Windows (althoug I would love to made it on Linux).
Happy to see this console and their openness. I hope to get one soon in the mean time, I will start my unity self-training next month on my work vacation.
Hi all, my name is Jason Doucette and I am the owner of Laughing Gull Productions. I have a few games on iOS and Android and I'm currently working on a game in unity for launch day on the OUYA called WhiteWater 3D. I haven't been posting on the forums that much since I am getting a working version of my game going before converting it for the OUYA console. WhiteWater 3D will also be going to iOS as well as Android.
I'm Aleksandar, web developer currently, and video game nerd. I want to make my first game in OUYA. I have a lot of programming experience but never been able to work on a game.
I love math, concept art, 3d stuff, sci-fy.... It is really pleasure and privilege to be here with all great developers.
hello, ill take some time to read all this posts, my name is Lune and im the owner of a indie studio called FelineArts, this is our second year alive and we want to make our second game "Dragon Maze" available for ouya.
i begin as an artist but i could not resist to learn how to program so for now i wear bot hats at the studio, and if there is something i can help with questions of unity or 3d, feel free to ask!
This system is going to be amazing! I was putting off developing for OUYA until I saw this contest coming up. It won't be easy, but I plan on developing and entering a demo. It's only two weeks away, so if there's anyone looking to jump in on a project, programmers, artists, composers, and testers are welcome to write me (my name's Eric)! Good luck people, you're gonna need it!
Hello there. My name is Scott Thomas and I am the Creative
Director of Papalati Games. Our very small studio, located in the Greater
Boston Area, consists of just three guys. We just released our first game in
November on the Windows Phone platform and are hard at work on finishing it up
for iOS, we’re just weeks away now from submitting it to Apple. We’re fairly
new in this whole indie game world and still have a long way to go. I come from
a purely Maya and Zbrush background with Modeling and Texturing experience. Our
coder has background in C# and has dabbled a little bit in Java. Then our third
team member has no experience, but is great at coming up with some wicked ideas
on the fly and it’s always good to have one of those guys are your team. So, we’re
lacking in Animation, Java, Environment Design, and Unity experience, but we
more than make up for it in enthusiasm!
For OUYA, we will be developing it with Unity of course. Our
current plans for 2013 are to expand our PALIDIN IP with the hopes of hitting
consoles and mobile devices all at once. Right now, PALIDIN is a text-adventure
game that we think just won’t bode well for consoles; after all it’s a
text-adventure game. The plan is to bring the IP to game consoles as either a
point and click type of game, in the same vein as the Myst games; or to give it
a little more life in the form of an adventure game in the same vein as Grim
Fandango or The Longest Journey.
We also have two other IPs that we plan to develop in the future;
it’s just a matter of getting around to them. Our decision to start developing
with Unity from this point forward should allow us to develop our current and
future games for multiple platforms all at once and that most certainly
includes OUYA.
We’re super excited to be joining the OUYA community.
Last year computer engineering student and sometime indie game developer. Most of the things I've made are more concept and tech demos than anything with a polished UX, so I'm working on fixing that. I've come to the OUYA platform because I miss the days when playing a console game with friends meant inviting people over to sit on the same couch and yell joyous taunts. Very excited so far by the developer's involvement and the openness of things.
I tend to like oddball titles, especially ones with emergent behavior and procedural content (Dorf Fortress, ho!). No promises with the rest of student life vying for my time, but here's to having some rough drafts up by the start of summer.
Hi I'm Josue (Joshua), I'm a web development and java programming student, it's my last year on my current degree and I hope that Ouya/Android brings me the chances that I've always dreamed with, like becoming a games/apps developer. I'm spanish but I speak english and japanese too.
Currently I'm developing an application for people who is interested in learning japanese, it includes
mini-games and exercises to make learning easier and fun.
The proyect is in alpha phase for Android and when it is finished I want it to be released for Ouya :)
I've just installed the ODK and set up the emulator and.. I can wait to get my own Ouya on April!
In my spare time I play videogames with my friends and family and I also do sport.
I'm doing Wushu for 3 years now and I (as you can see haha) love Asian culture!
I'm Michael Chugg from Helium Interactive and we are working on a video game called Cape Chronicles, a four player platform adventure game. I am theprogrammer and one of the designers for the team. We are excited to get this game onto the Ouya!
OUYA people, I'm Piers. I do development support which means many things depending on the week, day, or even hour of the day. I started out at Atari in the early 2000's doing everything from QA to betatest administration. Eventually I found my way to Trion where I led the development support group working on the MMO Rift and worked with a couple of the very talented folks who posted on page one :) I've been lurking here for some time, but my lurking days may be ending and I can't wait to spend more time with what's becoming a great community! But right now I need to work on my coding skills for a while...

Hi, I'm a web developer looking at developing android games on the side, and OUYA is a great place to start putting them out there for the community. I've developed one GPL game "rockdodger" which has been taken up by the debian folks. To install it on any debian or ubuntu linux system type
sudo apt-get install rockdodger
I'll port that game and more to the OUYA when I can. I've got an odk-0.0.4.zip sitting in my Downloads directory like an unopened CHristmas present, let's extract! Let's have fun!

I'm Tim (Timo) of a small indie group just getting started here in Utah. We're working on our first title which is a Platformer/Puzzler based off a book I did (www.bimey.com). Here's a scaled back view of the beginning of the first level:
Can't wait to get everything up and running on our dev kit!
PS Happy to see Nicoll Hunt on here, my beard solutes you sir!
is turning into a cartoon as well as a game! Check out our Facebook (and like!) :)
The mini web game is now live, play and compete for high score here: bimey.com!
My name is Justin and I'm a software developer by craft and I like to tinker with indie games in my spare time. I'm excited to get my hands on the OUYA software and get some games developed and launched on the platform.
