Everyone in my region just got sent upto 9 SMS over the past hour (some ppl down the road even got automated phonecalls!) from the state fire service (BTW it's midnight here) advising to stay in low fire-danger areas tomorrow - (marked in green):

    You're near Canberra?  We heard on the news that fires had started around there.  Not good, especially after the Tasmanian fires over the past few days.  We've got our heatwave starting this week (I'm in Brisbane).

    Here's a good map detailing the locations of fires over the past 72 hours.
    Just a few.  And the weather is getting hotter still in some areas.  We broke a 40 year record for the highest average maximum temperature across the country today.  40.33C (104.59F) average maximum.

    Bit of a smoke haze in Brisbane from a few surrounding fires, sound like NSW is getting the worst of it. Stay safe everyone :)

    We're getting smoke from the Bribie Island fires and some from the Tin Can Bay fires.  Beautiful one day. Smoky the next. :)
