Where did my Downloads go?

My Ouya auto-boots into XBMC, so I do not recieve system updates unless I back out of XBMC to the Ouya dash (which I rarely ever do, as I bought the Ouya for the sole purpose of using XBMC). Today, XBMC froze and I backed out to relaunch it and I received the latest update.
OK, So now I have to re-root and edit the generic.kl file so that I can use my remote with XBMC. No problem rooting, but I can not load the generic.kl file. Two strange things are happening.

1) When I go to storage, all I have available is Apps and Available. No downloads. I can't seem to put anything onto the ouya by side-loading it from my downloads.

2) If I try to download anything onto the Ouya from Browser, I get an error telling me I do not have any USB storage.

I do not own any USB storage devices or external hard drives and should nat have to buy them to get functionality I have had all along. So how do I get my downloads back?

    Anyone?

I can't download or side-load anything onto my Ouya as it is now, making it basically a useless brick.

I am having the same problem as you, although I don't auto-boot into XBMC. Go to download a game and it just stays in queue, did a factory reset was able to finally download a game, tried another game back to the same problem just sticking in the queue. I am missing both the download and misc folder. I get the same message when trying to sideload an app, "missing external usb blah blah". I used Filepwn from the discover story to create a download folder within sdcard. That seemed to work for a bit, but again it reverted back to missing external usb. This is very frustrating. I am really trying to like this system and I do, but it's starting to become more of a nuisance.

i even gave up and factory reset it and its still the same...
    obviously i was shattered.
    anyone have any ideas?

Just received the white version, and am trying to set it up.  Will not download anything through the browser, only through Discover.  Makes the unit useless for me.  The Dec 5 upgrade did not do anything to fix this issue as far as I can see.

After the update I couldn't find the downloads anymore (under storage).

I then connected a USB stick to the OUYA. (Edit: and I downloaded something to the USB stick.) Now, under storage, USB storage, there's a downloads section. It also gives access to the internal storage. This seems a bit strange but at least I can see my downloads again.

Hey guys, thanks for raising these questions. I've got two notes based on the issues I'm seeing above.

For those not able to view their files, for now you can see them by putting in a USB drive or getting a file explorer like FilePWN to view them. We'll look into a better solution from our end, but if you want to view them right now, that's the best bet.

For those unable to download from the browser, can you please go to MANAGE -> SYSTEM -> SYSTEM UPDATES and verify you have the latest build? If so, please go to MANAGE -> SYSTEM -> CONSOLE INFO and reply here with the "Build Number".

    Thank you!

    My build number is 1.2.703_r1

I put a USB stick in - and did not have the same results as Foppy.  First of all, I do not see a external under storage.  The USB storage tab does not show the downloads.  As to the file explorer, that is what I am trying to download.

Sorry, I forgot to add something. (And I got the name wrong, it's not 'external' but 'USB storage'.)

Just inserting the USB stick is not enough; I also had to download something to the USB stick. After doing so, the section Downloads appears under Storage > USB storage.

I do not get it, when I go to the storage section I see for a fraction of time the media and download and than the screen immediately shifts to a section where I can not do anything anymore. I have a screen that says external usb, I can select it but when click on the green button on the controller nothing happens, so I am stuck, any advice?

Fortunately, Filepwn can be installed for free via "Discover" (look for the "APP" genre section). This was the only way I could sideload anything.

I also noticed that the download section was missing today. Actually it shows up and then it disappears. I have no problems downloading anything through the browser. Thanks for the tip on FilePWN, worked great. I wouldn't mind having direct access to it (or something similar) directly on the manage menu.

We've got a fix for users who are unable to see the downloads folder. This will be fixed in our next OTA. Thanks for the help tracking this down!

I too have been having this problem.  All options appear very briefly on the screen then are gone. Is there and ETA for the fix?

    Thanks.

Ditto.  I can see something flash briefly but then is gone.  Is there any work around for this?  I've tried several usb stick containing different bits.  I can't get to my downloads, or any of the contents of the usbs.
