Guys, I have an idea of game that is currently in progress, I would like to confirm with you.
The idea is the following:
A first-person game, where you can at times switch to a view in RTS style to be able to group and sort troops. The objective of the game is to destroy base and eliminate all other players on the map.
Summary of history, the land is in dispute for several alien races, you receive the command of one of these races and should eliminate the other, using various units and equipment for each type of race.
You will be able to evolve over time your character, hence the evolution of troops and equipment.
What do you think? The game is currently in production, will provide a site for a few weeks to follow.
I am working on a RTS game myself for the Ouya and originally wanted to do partial first person and partial RTS style but after working on it this past month felt that for the sake of consistency and simplicity I chose to stick with the RTS style. If you can figure a way to properly balance the two together I say go for it. If your at all interested in my game you can check out my facebook and twitter page. https://twitter.com/STASIS_Gaming https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stasis/219692478182300
So, I think Battalion Wars is too close on my idea, but In my game you are control units and tools. Example: You can equip a portal with event when a enemy close your portal, all units need come back to the control center.
In actual development I can show the change camera functionality I ll post a video here!
I like that style of game from time to time. What you describe sounds almost exactly like Savage to me (PC), Except Savage has a fantasy theme. The 2nd game is free to play and may be good for inspiration:
I know Black ops 2 has a mode (single player campaign) that is RTS/FPS, you can command the squads, then if you want you can take over their bodies and go FPS. (gameplay starts at 3:30).
