Cannot force windows 8 to accept the ini file.

So when I try to use the "have disk" in the control panel. Put the ini file but it says that the file is corrupted and I can't force it to accept it. I see you can in windows 7 but Im wondering if there is an option for windows 8.

What did you use to edit the ini file to add the extra lines?  Perhaps it saved the file in Unix or Mac format?
