Advantages of the SDK

I've been experimenting with OUYA & Unity for a while, and was using the plugin at github

But, I've managed to compile a fully working build, without the need of any of the files that are on the plugin. I managed to handle input properly via the Input class (GetAxis works great, too). 

Of course I still don't get benefit of any purchase related stuff and all those things that could possibly only ODK, but it works as expected. 

What are the advantages of using the plugin for handling input? Other advantages of using the plugin, apart from using NDK and extend the OuyaUnityApplication or OuyaUnityActivity?
