Ouya folks are definitely hard at work to improve the store. This topic will have ideas to improve the store to help out the OUYA folks a bit and tell them what the devs really want.
It would good if we can see what the OUYA devs are going to be doing. May be a link to their project tracking tool to show us their upcoming features. (i.e. a link to JIRA/bugzilla or whatever they use to see what you are working on next on the store).
Here's a list of ideas that I think will benefit the devs:
- Ability to specify pricing options before downloading.
- Ability to embed a video trailer.
- The More Info button actually has more info not the same thing as description (i.e. allow us to add more stuff .. may be embed the video trailer in the more info or the pricing in the more info).
- Ability to browse developer profile of games.
- More useful categorization. For example, "Play Like Bawb" is useless for a gamer. It does not tell me anything about what i'm going to expect from this play list of games ...
- Put more exposure on the different categories .. currently they sit at the bottom!
- Reward games that present themselves properly perhaps by including presentation into your O rank. You can measure on first submission by reading the description of the game and see if the screenshots show any of what the description is entailing ... Look at their game cover ... etc.
- Obviously provide caching for users who bought the game so devs don't have to do it on their own.
- It looks like the store doesn't cache the game info .. so every time I open the DISCOVER menu it re-downloads the images?!
If any one else have more ideas please add them to this topic.
Regards.

The browsing interface seems modeled after Netflix, which is almost universally panned for its usability problems. It's not designed to allow you to either work your way through a large variety of content, or quickly find the content you're looking for.
I agree that most users don't know what "Games by Bawb" or "From the Sandbox" or so on mean, so are generally useless ways to categorize things. Some people know who Ben Kuchera are, but not many.
Collecting and displaying ratings, and the ability to sort (particularly for finding all NEW items) would be extremely useful. Focusing MORE on categories/genres would help. Providing "related items" would help somewhat, though less useful until the catalog expands.
