How do you play OUYA on your PC?

Sorry if this is in the wrong Category.
Is there a program out there where you can play ouya on pc? I don't have an HDTV, my Dad has one and thats what I use, but i want to play it in my room. i tried using Droid@Screen and that didn't work. my computer doesn't have and HDMI port and its not an HD monitor so I don't think a VGA to HDMI, or vise versa, would work. But My Dad might get a new HDTV but I don't want him to spend money. So is there a program that could work there? Woulld that VGA to HDMI cable work? Please tell me cause I am desperate. Thanks!

I've been using this HDMI to VGA converter, works great and splits the audio. It also works by drawing power through the HDMI plug from Ouya, so I don't need the AC adapter plugged in.
