[XBMC] Can't read BD rips, too slow

Hi!

I've tried to read a BD rip on my OUYA through an NFS mounted partition, but it was utterly lagging. Somtehing like 5 fps.

I've followed the xbmchub.com howto to install XBMC but I haven't done the second part (because they don't explain why is it so good to install their stuff... a bit of explanation right here wouldn't be bad).

How did you install XBMC?
Did you make some special tweaks?
Could it come from NFS?

Cheers!

You are probably running a version that doesn't have hardware acceleration. You need to find a version that's stable that's has hardware acceleration.

There is no right way or wrong way to install xbmc, the only thing to know is what version to install.

    I recommend looking here http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=OUYA

I'm currently using Gotham alpha 5 and it has a few stability issues and playback issues, the one provided in the above link is Gotham alpha 1 (it has hardware acceleration), I do believe its more stable then what alpha 5 is currently, and doesn't have as many playback issues.

Just don't expect to see it play 100% because it is a alpha build and could have some issues.

    Thanks, I'll try that tonight!
I thought the HW acceleration wasn't enabled because the OUYA couldn't do it.

It couldn't, not without proper software support. That's what libstagefright is adding (support for hardware video decoding, AKA hardware acceleration) see here
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=152005 (note, the version in that topic is Gotham alpha 5, it has stability and video playback issues).

I followed the instructions using the xbmchub.com tutorial and all is working well. I did have a lot of issues with xbmc freezing up when inputting the fusion parameters. Setting up XMBC fully with the hub wizard will allow you to add the most popular add-ons and repositories without manually doing it yourself. It is a huge time saver, for those looking for the 18+ content you will still have to add the adult addons and enable the channels for viewing. If there are any children in the home, be sure to enable the locks to prevent unauthorized viewing. Xbmc repositories and addons will enable you to view content from around the world typically with no commercials. The only downfall is streaming live content, but many programs have excellent quality.
