Latest Update/Build Opt In

I was thinking about how there haven't been any major updates to the OUYA for a while. I understand there is a bit of a quandary with releasing big updates for the OUYA. On the one hand, releasing earlier means people will complain about the bugs that weren't spotted and how you should have waited longer and done more testing before releasing an update.

Equally, waiting till later, if there are any bugs, people will complain that you should have released the updates earlier, so those bugs could have been found and reported by the community.

So I was thinking it might be a good idea to let people opt in to getting earlier updates, to get the "public beta" version of the OUYA software, but understanding there will be bugs that they can then help identify and report back. While those who just want the finished thing with hopefully no bugs or problems to get in the way of their game play can just stick with the stable build

I know that the whole console is, in a sense, in beta at the moment, and that it complicates rolling out updates. However, it might help provide better and earlier feedback and at the same time help reduce support requests and negative PR

Not every change has a user visible component. For example; The last couple of updates have had changes to the OUYA updater which allow us to update a sub-sets of consoles with specific updates if we wanted to.

At the moment we're testing the feature internally, once we're happy with it we can look at opening it up to a public beta list.
