Submitting demos before full releases?

Hello everyone! Great to be here. As the title says, I am wondering if my company would be able to submit the demo to our game before the full release goes public.

The reason I ask is because I would like to the get the demo into peoples hands at launch, but we will still be a month or two from completion by the time the Ouya hits shelves.

Also, I hear the games store is live now, but had trouble finding a link. Any help there would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for the answers, and check out the trailer to our game at the link below!

As long as your demo passes certification, there is nothing to stop you publishing it.  It would have to have a different package name than the full version to differentiate them.

The store is accessed from the OUYA Launcher.  I do not believe there is a web version.

I've seen other people put demo versions of their game on the store, so think you'll be fine

Fist of Awesome has a short demo on the store right now, and he's putting up the full version later on. So definitely something you can do

I think its best to get in the store early then later. More exposure for you and also let gamers know this information in the description or use the words "beta" or lower the price for new users while you work on the full version. I bet they will be happy to get involved in your game now. Build more of a community then of a launch and provide updates with features to keep existing gamers and attract new ones. hth

I think a demo build is a good way to go, though please at the time you submit your full game with free to try aspect and then IAP (of whatever variety) ask us to remove the demo version after you get approved and publish your full version.  We do not want two flavors of games at the same time :)

Why not just update the description of the beta/demo and update it to full version? That would be better for users I think and would save you going through the sandbox drama again.

Thats the most obvious way isnt it?

Just upload the game without the IAP to unlock the full version!
    :D
