Drawing Universe

Drawing Universe is a game that I am developing where you have to run and jump around planets to get to the goal in a 360 DEGREE GRAVITY world. Did you think the 360 degree gravity was the unique gameplay element? No! You can also DRAW your own planets on the screen (hopefully) with the touchpad or with the right stick and right trigger. If you can't get the hang of those controls, you can always USE YOUR PHONE AS A CONTROLLER instead of the Ouya controllers. This means you can have more than the usual 4 players, so you can play with all your friends if you have more than 3 of them. In fact you can even play against your PC or Mac connected to your wifi if you want to.

OK at this point I should add a disclaimer that I don't have an Ouya that I can test with yet, so I don't know if the multiplayer works properly on it or not, but it's working awesomely with my PC (with multiple gamepads), Mac, iPod and iPad. And I own GMS so in theory it should port over with little effort (I'll need to make changes but probably not with the multiplayer).

Drawing Universe should have over 300 levels - that's 100 normal levels, 100 hard mode levels and the 100 levels from Drawing Galaxy (the prequel). They are short, but difficult. The gravity and drawing mechanics should get you thinking about how to complete these levels, well, at least more than a regular sidescroller would. You have to avoid comets which are one hit kill and each different colour has a different "ability", for example the cyan ones erase drawings and the magenta ones bounce off planets.

Here is a quick preview. I just finished the first 100 levels (and of course the 100 Drawing Galaxy ones too) so I thought it was time to show everyone.

(wait, how do you embed videos?)

Also, I'm adding some guest characters (which is where the "over" in "over 300 levels" comes from). So if you have a character that you want to be included, just reply/message me.

I want to release it when I can get it working well on Ouya, but that means I will need an Ouya beforehand (I preordered for April). I'm so excited for Ouya so I'll put it on Ouya before anything else. If you want to try it you can try it on GameMaker Steam Workshop. It's free (with the free version of GameMaker on Steam).

Tell me what you think!

    No, actually.

To make a long story short, I originally used a different engine which was really similar to the TNTBF one for Drawing Galaxy (the prequel), but when I ported it to HTML5 it was way too slow, so I made my own engine. It's not AS good in terms of moving platforms and stuff, but it uses an idea that I came up with to be much, much faster.

On a side note, do you know TNTBF 2 is coming out soon? I'm so excited to see what someone else can do with the gravity idea!

great stuff, yeah i saw the trailer for TNTBF 2 on developers site, looks interesting though. Yeah im looking at the 360 Gravity Engine and seeing how to adapt a game design into it which differs it from his games built on his engine. Must admit GMS will accelerate our development on OUYA and its nice to hear from Mike that OUYA has sent a dev console so he can fully support OUYA though GMS
