what style of music you prefer for gaming?

Hi, i have a question for you!!

what style of music you prefer for gaming?

I realize that this depends on the game, but..but to you which type you prefer?

Ambient?
Atmosphera?
Orchestral/Epic?
Electronic?
8 bit?

certainly depends on the type of game, but you, for your ideal game, what kind of music do you prefer?
I know it is difficult to generalize, but try it! :)

I got some lounge music composed for my game. Something a little chilled out that really just serves as background noise.

Since my game is a local multiplayer / board game where (I hope) the noise is of the players talking, I wanted some music, but really quiet, unobtrusive stuff

so you prefer a mood music, the environment, that is not too invasive, relaxing.

For me, I prefer it to be music with an actual tune - I don't like most of the music in the Elder Scroll games because that music is too ambient, for example.  My favorite game-music composer is Yasunori Mitsuda, of Chrono Trigger/Xenogears fame, and he does both epic/orchestral and playful/electronic stuff.

My game has sort of a tense "prepare for battle" track in the main menu, and then none in-game (it would either be distracting or drowned out by gunfire XD)
You didn't remember the plot of the Doctor Who movie because there was none; Just a bunch of plot holes strung together.

I make my own music and tend to use a lot of orchestra and choirs but for some games electronic music is better. For my next game I plan on adding some woodwinds and maybe a solo trumpet or sth like that because I've just bought an electronic flute (AKAI 4000s - awesome device!) and I want to test it. :)

yhea i love the orchestra and choir, but honestly I see a few games with this style.

    many require more electronic stuff.

atmosphere is a big one to suit a game your playing, if your playing a big game, say an rpg, spending a lot of time in a few specific areas, your not going to want to hear the same soundtrack essentially on repeat for hours.

if your in an open area, small sound effects like wind and walking through grass or even sand, can be a great addition to a game, realistic sounds and you cant complain

if you can avoid repetition with a soundtrack, or even make a truly epic tune that's hard to get sick of, then a game with your music would be awesome.

i prefer realistic enviroment sounds, more than a soundtrack, but light music playing in the background is welcome, everyone is different

I've put up an intro animation with my music here: - but for the final game I will make sth with more electronic tunes at least for the menu.
