I never saw a beige box PS3. These were large black metal rack mount units. Nothing beat the PS2 devkits though that looked like super-sized retail units (and also weighed a ton).

The crazy thing was that you could remove the power plug from the back of it and it would still run and output video for about 2 or 3 seconds!
Anyways, all of this to say that as far as pre-release consoles go, the OUYA is the easiest and most complete one I've worked with.
Oh yeah. I remember now. The kit that sounded like you lived next to airport. I forgot about it because our engine guys kept it locked up in a cabinet due to the noise.
@Delpee : Kinder? ha ha he he. :) They are very different from the dev side.

It took us a day or two just to get the thing to boot... Ouya devkits are a walk in the park by comparison.
