Piers is busy helping out at E3 today, so I'll be filling in for today's OTA announcement :)
Here is the changelog for 1.0.298:
New Discover section is LIVE!
Layout is changed to better highlight games and allow the user to more easily access them.
Tile images now load in more quickly and have better caching.
Improved performance and navigation.
Download progress is now shown on the tile for each game, making it easier to see progress. OUYA supports 3 simultaneous downloads and will queue requested downloads above 3.
Genre sections launch user to a new window so many more games can be seen at a time.
Play category now loads more quickly and scrolls smoother for users with lots of games.
Games with available updates now have an icon in the top right corner of their tiles in both Play and Discover. Users can download the update from the tile in Play, or from the Game Details screen.
Downloaded games now install automatically. No more annoying default Android permissions screen! No more “Install” tiles in the Play menu! Working on world peace next.
Users can put their OUYA into sleep mode via the controller. Hit (Y) from the main menu to do so. OUYAs in sleep mode can be woken up by turning on a controller or pressing the power button on top of the OUYA.
Android settings and Browser now respect TV safe zones. And yup, part of the “O” in OUYA is still supposed to be off screen on the Main Menu =)
Region Restrictions are now available for Developers. You can restrict regions for your games through the Dev Portal. Remember, you are choosing which regions to NOT show in. Your games show in all regions by default.
Release Calendar is now available for developers. Devs can choose to give a release date for their title that will show on ouya.tv for all users to see. It’s a great way to tell people to look out for your game!
Fixed issue that could cause input queuing in some games.
Changed “Re-run Setup” to do a full factory reset (and renamed it to “Factory Reset”).
Edit: 1.0.309 update on June 17th fixes the issue where you could get stuck in an update loop when downloading game/app updates.
Looks like there is still a bug where if you have more than one controller plugged in, using the analogue stick to navigate left/right between tiles in play and discover still skips through a bunch at super-speed
Otherwise, looks great. Did you down the size of the game tiles?

A little. Our plan is to have the current row in the store scale up to normal size when selected, but getting that working was causing trouble for this release.
I like the changes, it's really coming along. Especially the updating, that's exactly how I envisioned it. And I like the little things too, like when you launch a game and it tells you to double-tap the home button to exit.
The changes look great; can't wait to try them out tonight :-)
A question or two:
1) do update downloads get lumped in with regular downloads in the developer analytics section? If so, could this get split out?
2) is there (or are there plans for) some sort of "Update all games" button or an option to do that when the console has been idle for a while or something?
ie: In the menu screen you get with the more info, have an "Add to Folder" menu
The menu has an option for [New Folder], then a list of the folders you have.
To empty all items from/delete a folder, press the button to bring up the same info screen when you have a folder selected.
To select multiple games to move to a folder, just hold the button down that would bring up the info screen. Or use another button to bring up a context menu (like how triangle does on PS3)
I'd like easier side loading. ie: A quick menu to show a list of APKs in the browser's download folder.
Get rid of the "Press OK to restart" popup at the end of firmware updates (if you havent already) cause it didnt require me to have a controller synced in the first place (I had to use a USB mouse to click it)
Exelent update & fast too. Squashed almost all the most complained about issues quickly. Keep pushing we're with you. You were first & your doing it right, not just using the play store. You will win this micro console battle. All others are just copying you. Keep pushing, great work!

Excellent! Very nice indeed.

What exactly is the functional purpose of offsetting it to the left if you have to clarify that it's supposed to be that way? In OUYA's case, it doesn't convey that scrolling is required (which is the usual intent for this kind of thing.. i.e. "Metro"). And if it looks like it violates the safe zone, then that's what users will assume even if it doesn't. I'm all for artsy UI design, but it's gotta complement and not confuse. And I *have* seen confusion in a few I've demoed to regarding this particular thing.
Nick, are their plans to allow screen shots to be clicked on to see them bigger?
Perhaps :) I've moved from improving the store screens to improving the app details screen this week, so who knows what could happen.
If you don't intend to support this, or allow full size screen shots from the larger shot, I'd recommend you don't make them select-able in the UI. As it is now, a user new to the device will keep pressing the button several times and different ways until they give up and realize, "that doesn't work yet". In UX design, if you can select something, the expectation is that you can interact with it in some way.
Those two quibbles aside, this is an excellent release. Very visible improvements in flow and performance. The Discover area provides a lot of information without being terribly overwhelming.
Might I suggest adding a static background image in the Discover screen so they're not sitting against a pitch black background? Something like a star field would complement it well.
One minor thing I just noticed: when updating a game in the play section it appears to be possible to launch the game right after the download completes but seemingly before it actually updates; in this case the game will launch but then immediately shut down as the update happens and then drop you back at the launch screen, which is a bit jarring looking.
It's been 10 days since I released a new version of laserdoodle but today, all of a sudden, the previous version has almost twice the amount as the updated version.
I report that remote OUYA turning off does not work for me. I click on it, screen goes black, controller switches off. But then I switch my TV from and back to HDMI and then I see the dialog - OUYA is running.
ouya-csharp has been updated to 1.0.5. There are no public API changes, so it's just an update to the jar. Also now licensed under Microsoft Public License, which doesn't change anything about how you can use it.

I agree :)

There's currently a very dark purple background, which probably looks black on some screens. We're working on that.
