Who determined the OUYA shipping order, anyway?

I backed OUYA on day one for $129 (1 extra controller).  $700 for an early box seemed utterly ridiculous when I could simply back early and receive early. That said, my game has been ready for OUYA integration and testing since March.

But thanks to someone's brilliant idea of shipping OUYAs completely out of order on an un-published schedule, I have yet to actually receive the console.  In fact, I haven't even received a shipping confirmation email.  Only God knows when this thing will arrive.  It is probably in the very last batch.

By all rights, I should have received the OUYA in mid April, finished the game, and maybe even gotten it out of the sandbox by now.

In reality, I will be lucky to get the game INTO the sandbox before OUYA retail release on June 25th.

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother.

The whole point of the $700 dev kit pledge was to guarantee your game could be a launch title, not pledging that was taking a risk, unfortunately it didn't pay off for you.  Region obviously played a BIG part in the order the devices shipped in, and backer number a small part (it's a lot cheaper to make large shipments to one region at a time than a few thousand separate shipments all over).

I admit I don't know much about the logistics of manufacturing and shipping 60,000 packages efficiently all over the world.  Do the efficiency gains extend all the way down to the state and city level?  If they shipped alphabetically by state in the USA, that would explain why I seem to be dead last.

Regions are not necessarily states. They are often multiple states or half states as well. We all just have to be patient. It's not ideal but we'll get them. I haven't gotten mine either.
    I do my best.

It also depends on if you opted for the limited edition they offered partway through the KickStarter.  The limited edition units were produced at a different time to the other units.

Rather than venting on here where no-one can really help, you would get a better response from the support email.  Also, read the update they posted on Friday about all units now having shipped and when you can expect to receive the shipping email.

Still no shipping email and no OUYA either.  I sent an email to support a moment ago asking for status, but at this point I'll probably have the thing in my hands before they get to my position in the support queue.  Assuming they even know about queues at OUYA HQ...  Also I didn't switch to the limited edition as I prefer the silver version.

Anyway, now I am curious to see if my Oculus Rift dev kit arrives before the OUYA.  If it does, it will be even harder to get my game published before retail OUYA release :D  (Edit: Rift did in fact arrive May 31st)

Email this morning wanted me to confirm my shipping address.

I also didn't recieve an email...
I pledged 250$ so I'm kinda upset about this.
I even made a support ticket days ago.
Also my account "straikychan" which I did back it with doesn't work with the forums for some reason so I needed to create this account.

I'm not sure limited edition made much a difference either. My buddy got the LE version and he received his shipping confirmation the beginning of the week. I've heard nothing.

Still waiting.  I've had two requests for address confirmation in the past 8 days (because none of the addresses in my town are in the US Postal Service database).  So maybe they've shipped it, and maybe not.

Got a tracking number today after a couple weeks of delay (possibly more that I don't know about) due to their system not accepting my address as long as it had a post office box number in it.  The number was even disguised as per my post office's recommendation for troublesome address forms.

It turns out they are shipping via DHL which doesn't deliver in my area.  Instead, DHL forwards the package to the post office, which has no use for physical addresses as they only hold packages for pickup (they don't deliver anything).

If I ever get this thing and my game becomes popular, I will have to sneak an advertisement for the GameStick into a patch.  To show my gratitude, you know.

I think a lot of that has less to do with OUYA screwing up and more to do with DHL being a pain.
You didn't remember the plot of the Doctor Who movie because there was none; Just a bunch of plot holes strung together.

One of the problems whas that the "tracking number" was infact a customer reference number that you needed to go here to use -> https://www.globalmail.dhl.com/web/portal-asia/traceit

If you tried searching via the normal dhl.com site you got nothing.

DMC: It can take a while before anything shows up there.

I received the tracking email on June 19 and today I still get no information from that page. Would that be normal?

Some people don't get their tracking number working all the way until it shows up on their doorstep.

Likewise.  Tracking email was June 21st and neither the home page or the page you linked will recognize the number.

It's sad they have a forum and don't get involved at all in helping people resolve their issues. I was an early kickstarter backer and have been contacting them for about 6 weeks to get the problem I had resolved. I haven't had a solid communication with the company and have been very frustrated. I have done email, facebook, twitter, submitted it through the site and still don't have a human contacting me. it's all automated systems with an automated response of it will be 2-3 days before we might get back to you.

Tracking via iship.com informs me that it arrived at post office this morning while I am on vacation.  This damn thing was late in every way possible.
