Any suggestions where to start off looking. I Am runnning a windows box with win 7 64 bit and had no issues prior, and all was working well.. The ouya shows up as a usb device still in windows when connected and turned on... Im guessing maybe the driver needs to be re-installed?!?!

Im hoping someone else has run into this and has a quick fix so i dont have to go digging around for the cause.

I just started using MonoGame and was able to port my game over to Android fairly quickly. I would be very interested in doing the same for OUYA, but it seems like in the past it has been a bit of a bumpy road. It looks like many of those issues have been resolved, but are there still major hurdles to get a game working or is it more of a seamless experience? I'm ready to fork over the money for Xamarin.Android, just want to know if it will be worth it.

EDIT: I guess what I'm really interested in knowing is what are the things to watch out for when taking this development route?

Unfortunately whatever launcher overwrote the ouya one doesnt work, and just force closes on boot.

Does anyone know of a recovery mode for the ouya? Most phones require holding down the power button as well as one of the volume buttons, but the ouya doesnt have any volume buttons.

I opened the case, and didnt see any switches or jumpers either.

I even tried using a usb keyboard and holding down the volume buttons on it out of desperation haha.

Is it possible to get Clockwork Mod booting from USB or something?

Hey, I'm currently developing a game that was planned to be released on android and iOS via unity, were about a little over half-way done with development and I have recently discovered Ouya, which seems like a great reason to make a port, I'm just wondering how my 800x480 screen size will reflect on Ouya, will I need to remake all my assets to make it look decent? its an oldschool pixel-retro type space shooter, you can check out screenshots/demo here www.BleakCoast.com

I am new to coding, well at least any modern coding--BASIC anyone?--but I have great ideas. It will be a little while before my games will be able to be released if I do all the coding myself but I wanted to throw this out here (because I really want the OUYA to succeed) but someone needs to work on developing second screen functionality app to work with android smart phones and tablets that can be placed in the Play store or or side loaded for maps, menus, multiplayer, drawing games, etc like the Wii U has.

This could really bring on par the OUYA to the functionality of the "big next gen consoles" and shut the naysayers mouths. Graphics are as graphics does and if a second screen peripheral function is available for all of us to use it would go great as an option for the OUYA.

I think the (Android/iPhone) licenses for Unity make it prohibitively expensive for my current goals (which is to realize a game on Ouya and if it is well-received, to port it to other platforms).

If I were starting a small development company, I could justify the purchase of the Unity licenses for Android and iPhone, because their value would be realized across multiple future releases. But currently, this is just an evening hobby, and I feel I could just as easily re-write my game in a native development environment rather than insta-port it using Unity.

Just wondering what others' thoughts are. Is multiple-platform deployment as easy as Unity makes it seem? Is it worth the $400/$800 dollar upfront cost? My gut feeling is I would rather pay myself $800 to manually port my game, since I'm going to have to make gameplay modifications based on UI/controls.

Disclaimer: I'm a novice, but I am fairly comfortable picking up new languages.
Thanks!

Let's say I have a trial game with an "unlock full game" option.

Obviously, the person needs to be online to buy the game. So they buy the game, and the full version is unlocked.

The next day, they turn on their Ouya, and I can use the "get receipts" function to again verify that they have purchased the game. They get the full game.

Now, for whatever reason, they lose internet access. They should still be able to play the full version of the game.

So, fine, at time of purchase, I store a little crumb on their machine that indicates that they've purchased the game. If they have that crumb, then the full game is unlocked. A naive approach would be a little text file or something that said "unlocked=true" or whatever.

With regard to piracy, how do I make that crumb so that it can't be shared with everyone?

I have my own answers to this, but curious what others think?

Getting my Nexus 4 up and running for development took about 10 minutes.

OS: Windows 8
Java: java 6 32-bit and also tried java 6 64-bit for the heck of it

Android APIs: 4.1.2(API 16) also 4.0 (API 14)

Eclipse: Juno Service Release 2

Android SDK Manager: Revision 21.1 32-bit

I've looked at other posts and I have tried about 5 diffident methods but to no avail. Someone mentioned they use the Samsung galaxy drivers. I tried the galaxy note drivers but that didn't seem to work so if anyone has done this could you be a bit more specific?
