I know you must be doing your darndest to get quality games on the platform for launch. You've probably even thought about who you can partner with to try and get more titles. Let me humbly offer my viewpoint and suggest four sources of excellent content for your aggressive pursuit:

Humble Bundle Store:

They have a strong connection to the developers of quality
(Android, even) products- thus enabling you to hit multiple targets at once and
bring loads of independently-sourced content to your platform, where it
belongs. :D Fez? Frogatto? Bastion? Braid? The list just doesn’t stop: http://humblestore.webs.com/store.

Desura:

They may be less prone to buy into your vision because they're mostly targeted at the desktop platform at the moment. You can at least look at the content on their platform and independently contact developers to see if they're interested in the Ouya as another sales point. If Valve launches a console of their own, it would only be logical to check back in with Desura. I would LOVE to see a port of Savage XR to the Ouya. Cross-platform excites me- the FPS based players could be on either the Ouya, or PC, and the commander would probably be best on a PC due to the precise nature of an RTS. It does run on linux already, but porting from x86 to arm is not a small task..

Good Old Games:

gog.com is another publisher that will
understand where you’re coming from, and also have fistfuls of games that would
work well when re-tooled for a console control scheme. They are also well-versed in the area of
handling license issues. I am honestly impressed with their approach and
integrity. Crystal Caves? Raptor? Yes please!

Greater Open Source Community:

Don't forget Supertux, OpenArena/OpenMisery, Opentyrian, BZFlag, and even Wesnoth. They will all have varying levels of interest in helping you publish on the Oyua, but they will all make great additions to your content selection, even if you have to take a first party approach to the pieces needed to realize a second party game.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/libsdl-android/ would be an excellent place to start :D

Just want to encourage you and help you capitalize on the brief time window you have here. Seems like competition is going to get fierce sooner than later.

EDIT: Included link to libsdl-android

Hey guys,

I wanted to let everyone take a look at what me and some friends have been making, Wild Blue .We started on this game about a day after the CREATE game jam was announced, concept and all. It has been an extremely fun and busy past week and half, I'm very lucky to be surrounded by lots of talented individuals that wanted to take part in the creation of this game.

The game plays and looks great right now, but a huge majority of the game's puzzles and events are only just last night coming together. So currently it's a desert of eye candy and random things to explore. We are hoping for our submission to the game jam to be about the first 15 minutes of game-play in a pre-alpha state. After the game jam we intend to complete the game in the near future. So take a look and I would love to hear what you think of our game I can also answer any sorts of questions you may have.

OH also we intend to have a cool video made today showing off game-play / setting the stage for the games story and atmosphere.

------Update------

Here's a teaser trailer we finished just a bit ago, I hope everyones last day of the game jam went well! I'm looking forward to getting some sleep before we jump right back into it to get done for the launch :) I hope you guys enjoy the teaser, and I can't wait to have some gameplay to show off. Congratulations to everyone partaking in the game jam and best of luck!

I really want this game on the OUYA. I also want other games on it too, but some are basically imposible to get as saying gameloft, glu, EA, Capcom, Konami and other companies that already brought Games to iOS and Android, bring some of their games that can fit a controller to OUYA and let us play.
Hey guys, I am currently working on a quick app that will let you update any games that have updates available to them.

What will be needed though is for any developer who wants their app to be updated will need to upload the apk to their own web server so that my app may distribute it to those who wish to update without losing their data

My question is: Will you devs actually use this until OUYA comes out with a better way to handle updates? Or should I stop before I put too much time into this?

What it does is it looks at every app that you have installed and does a html query on whether or not it needs to be updated and then displays the apps that do need to be updated.

The success of this will rely heavily on the cooperation of the developers!

EDIT: Alright, You can now register your updates at http://mattlangdev.com/update/index.php Gonna upload the app to the ouya store now and wait for approval

Thanks for reading this guys!

This is an example of what it will do/look like

So, no Minecraft by the sounds of it.
Hey there,

I'll cut to the chase, as I doubt anyone cares for a life story. I'm planning a game for the ouya with a group of friends (Artists, Musicians, Nerds, Gamers and the like) but before I throw every penny I have and all my free time into this, I wanted to ask the OUYA Dev community their thoughts.

Basically what I want to make will be a 3D 4 player RPG of sorts. Now then the development's all plausible, I've researched into that and we're fast learners. It will be heavily stylised, for several reasons, by our artists to produce what we hope to be a truly unique look. It will be reminiscent of the old Dungeon crawler RPGs with some fancy more modern elements chucked in. I want to make it very clear that we are doing all we can to avoid as many RPG cliches as possible, while still very clearly being an RPG. It wont be anything incredibly fancy to begin with, but it will have creativity and developers and designers with a passion for it (something lacking in a lot of games I feel).

I just wanted to pass it by some people:

1. Will the OUYA be able to cope with running 4 player split screen in a 3D environment? I figured it should be okay, but I haven't seen much but 2D games being made so far.

2. Will there still be a market for this sort of game? I haven't been keeping up with other development process, I've been busy researching how to join in. Because of this, I'm not aware of what there's already swarms of, or what the demands for?

Thanks for your time.

Game Background

Zeb's Tale is a game about a zombie child named Zeb,he is the only child zombie in the world, all other children who have been infected haven't survived. With being the only child zombie Zeb has the ability to run and jump, an ability the older zombies don't have. Due to this the elder zombies have decided to send Zeb on a quest, a quest to find the cure to the infection and save all zombie kind!

Gameplay
3D platform influenced by Nintendo 64 classics Banjo Kazooie, Zelda and Mario 64. This game will have open levels and puzzles to solve which will reward you with items that help you progress past levels and unlock new ones. You will be able to run, jump. smash, slam and move objects to reach the end of the game.

Included In The Prototype
A sample level that includes 3 keys to collect and 100 coins (optional to finsh). The aim is to open the door in the middle of the level and pass through.

Things We Wanted To Include (But ran out of time to do)
The main character model was being worked on but we ran out of time to finish it.
Enemies, we have attack buttons all set up but no one to fight! It's all right though, you can use those attacks to good use somewhere in the level

Controls
Left Stick - Walk/Run
D Pad - Change camera distance/height
L Button/R Button (Held down) - Move camera behind Zeb
O - Jump/Double Jump
U (while in air) - Smash Attack
U - Action button (Pickup/drop object, Talk/give)
Y - Throw brains
A - Attack (punch, triple punch, run attack, jump attack)

About the Developers
I am a long time gamer, long time developer but first time game developer. Have always toyed with the idea of developing a game but never really came of anything. When my brother Nick backed the OUYA in the KickStarter we decided to give making a game a go. I started learning Unity but never really got far until this jam was announced, then things got serious. With a new game idea I started coding and Nick started modelling, we have learnt a lot (mainly that there is a lot of work in game development) but it's been worth it, I'm very proud of our first effort, and hope to build on this in the future.

If you want the apk it is in this thread here!

(get the one 3 posts down.)
